Message I would check:

- Coolant temperature sensor (under hood, front of engine). Weird things can happen if the car's computer thinks the engine is cold. If you have the digital climate control system -- the coolant to heater core valve under the dash can be forced open (bypassing the coolant sensor parameter) -- just a way to verify if this is the issue or not? On-line manual or a search tells how to put the climate control system in diagnostic mode.

- I'd also check to see if the heater core is clogged? Running some water thru the heater core pipes (from engine bay fittings) is a way to test that. Can do with some compressed air too (either way -- make sure coolant valve under dash has been forced open). Whatever you do -- don't use excessive pressure - don't need a lot.

- Other thing to check is to visually look at the heater core coolant control valve to make sure it really is opening. You'll need to do this before undoing the whole dash -- with control system still connected. You'll be able to see this valve from above and to the right of the gas pedal -- it's on one of the heater core pipes coming from the engine bay.
